Fairlead Training
Fairlead Training was founded in 1996, focussing on the use of large yachts to provide Outdoor Management Development Programmes. This relatively new concept became the subject of a Masters Thesis "Outdoor Management Development. Do yachts offer a new dimension for development?"
The underlying 'people skills' and sailing abilities of the Fairlead Training team has allowed the expansion to the range of services offered on the web site today. The majority of our business is still obtained through personal recommendation and repeat business!
With a small team of RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Instructors, Yachtmasters’ and experienced crew with many thousands of sea miles behind them, we are able to offer a high quality service over the wide range of services described on this site.
As important as being technically competent, the team are good with people and excellent communicators too. So for example, if it's own boat tuition you need, you can relax knowing that the crew will be 'easy to get on with'!
With an emphasis on quality of service provision, we also aim to be competitive in pricing!
We work closely with high quality providers in some aspects of our service to you. For instance, we use carefully selected yacht charter companies both at home and abroad. This enables us to present high specification yachts totally suited to your particular business or pleasure events, almost anywhere!
Whatever your requirements, please do not hesitate to call or email us. From within the range of services offered, we will be happy to research and develop a tailored proposal with options for your consideration.

Yacht Delivery 2010
In fairly arduous conditions Paul kept us going. We made good progress from Dover to Muiden, despite a few problems with the boat en-route! Many thanks once again for a very professional service!– Achim Brenner
Yacht Delivery
Dear Paul, I would to thank you for the excellent job you have done by the delivery of my 30 foot sailboat (Maxi 900)at the beginning of winter, from Lymington to Loctudy in the south of French Brittany. In the difficult conditions of this time of the year yourself and your crew have shown a remarkable degree of seamanship that speaks well for the kind of training to expect from your organization.
And I would like also to emphasize the fact that at the end of the journey, the boat was handled back to me perfectly clean and shipshape. Best regards.
– Ranieri Fornari
Yacht Delivery
I used the services of Fairlead Training for a yacht delivery from Lowestoft to Dartmouth in May 2009. Paul Ellis provided two additional crew members, and I also sailed along. This ended up being a very pleasant trip. Paul is very knowledgeable and professional, and the crew he had provided was a pleasure to sail with. Altogether an A+ service.– P Henaff (Brest University)

I wanted to thank you very much for inviting me to take part to that sailing tour. I think we all had a very good time and a good enough weather to really enjoy cruising along the coast. Nice boat, nice people and very good organization. Special thanks to our skipper who’s taken good care of his crew even though we’ve lost the race for few seconds (let’s forgive Katie for not having measure the time correctly).– Phillipe Charconnet. SCOR (global re-insurance)
Corporate sailing
After a hard days work both teams had worked productively together, and sailed their way to success. A rewarding dinner and drinks awaited ashore in a local public house aptly named The Anchor. The following day both teams sailed back to the mainland, “re-ashored” that the experience would keep them afloat in the office.– Extract from company Newsletter Liberty Grp Lloyds Underwriter

Just a quick note to thank you very much for the last couple of days. We are already getting some great feedback and very much appreciate you and Keith being able and willing to share some of the skills it takes to sail, what are fairly large yachts, with a group of mainly novice sailors. Many thanks once again for a superb couple of days.– Hugo S. Aon Grp Ltd
